Course Reservation and Deposit:

• Every course requires a deposit for each student. The $ 500.00 deposit is a Non-Refundable deposit.  We apply the deposit to the course when we confirm your reservation.  All deposits and payments are in US Dollars.

• For reservations made within 35 days of the sailing course, full payment is required.  Reservations are not confirmed until the School of Ocean Sailing has e-mailed you written confirmation. 

Balance of Payment:

• With the e-mailed acceptance of your reservation, you will receive an invoice stating the balance due and the due date of this payment will be stated on the invoice. 

• If for any reason the payment is not received by the due date of the invoice, the School of Ocean Sailing reserves the right to cancel the booking and the cancellation charges set out in "Cancellation by student” will prevail.

Cancellation by student:

• Due to the nature of our business, the School of Ocean Sailing is in transit part of the time.  Cancellation of a reservation must be e-mailed to the School of Ocean Sailing and the effective date of cancellation is the date that the School of Ocean Sailing receives such notification. 

• If you serve notice of cancellation of your booking or fail to pay at the specified times the amount listed on the invoice, you will be liable to pay cancellation charges which are based on a proportion of the invoiced price of your sailing school course.  The cancellation charges are calculated as follows:

Cancellation by the School of Ocean Sailing:

• The School of Ocean Sailing reserves the right to cancel a course at any time, for any reason.  The School of Ocean Sailing will not cancel a class less than 35 days before that voyages' departure, except for "Act of God", unusual or unforeseen circumstances beyond the School of Ocean Sailing's control.

• A 2 student minimum is required for ANY course to become operational. If less than 2 students are enrolled 35 days prior to the start of the course, the student will be notified via e-mail that his/her course has been cancelled. The deposit and any other payments (if they were made in advance) will be refunded.
• The School of Ocean Sailing will attempt to give you as much notice as possible if cancelling/delaying your trip is necessary due to weather conditions. Since weather predicting is not an exact science, we gather as much information as possible from different prediction centers before making a decision. We have access to the military weather forecasts, N.O.A.A. forecasts and buoy reports, N.A.S.A. forecasts and private services that we subscribe to.

• The Captain may alter any course and any route at any time and for any reason the safety of the vessel and/or the safety of it's crew and students are encumbered.

• In the event of a cancellation you will be given a choice of choosing an alternative available class. In the event that you do not wish to reschedule your class, you will be entitled to a refund.

Insurance:

In addition to medical insurance we advise trip members to purchase travel insurance to cover the costs of the above fees, airfare, and other non-refundable expenses should the student or the School of Ocean Sailing cancel the course reservation.
